YOUR GUIDE TO URBAN NIGHTLIFE & ENTERTAINMENT!
Thurston “The SaxMan” Magill was born in New York and raised in Chicago, but most importantly he was born an entertainer. By age five, Thurston was playing and performing classical piano. By age ten, Thurston had landed a leading role in the musical Shenandoah at Chicago’s famous Drury Lane Theatres and had appeared on CBS’s Early Edition.
Music is where Thurston came into his own, and he added both clarinet and saxophone to his repertoire. Inspired by artists such as Sonny Rollins, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Mike Phillips Thurston has created a sound all his own by blending sounds of funk, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop.
That unique sound has landed Thurston and his saxophone on stage with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Michael Manson, George Duke, Willie (of Day 26) and Kwiet Storm . A winner of “ShowTime in Chicago,” Thurston blew through the windy city performing at The Auditorium Theatre, Buddy Guy’s Legends, and the Funky Buddha Lounge amongst countless others.
A talent recognized from coast to coast, Thurston has made his mark on Los Angeles—performing on Jaime Foxx’s Foxxhole Live XM Radio Show, Boardner’s of Hollywood, and the X-bar.
As the newest addition to Ethno Music Group, the production skills of "Thurst" and the musical mastery of "The Saxman" will be seen and heard coast to coast! He is currently working on his first solo project, "Mile High™" as well as songs for EMG artist Bliss, as well as countless Chicago artists
